Who says your fish is good?
BBC Good Food magazine described our fish as "Top Quality" and Good Housekeeping magazine called it "Exceptional Value".

Why is it good?
Because we set very high standards and work hard to try to maintain them. We always buy the best available, even if this means raising prices. If "the best available" isn't good enough, we will go out of stock rather than supply inferior fish.

Because we never compromise on price, we are usually able to buy larger grades of fish, for instance, big prawns rather than small ones. Larger is more satisfying to eat and often cooks better. A good example of our approach is scampi. Processors grade scampi according to size. There are eight grades, with size 1 being the largest, approximately 14 scampi tails per lb, down to size 8, about 45 per lb. In a good supermarket you might find size 5 as the standard offering and perhaps size 3 as a "premium" offering. The only size we ever sell is size 1 and we adopt the same approach across our entire product range.

Why don't you sell fresh fish?
If you wanted to buy fresh fish to cook as such, and not to freeze at home, you would only buy it in small quantities - one meal at a time. We could not supply you with such small quantities economically.

If you are going to freeze at home, then as long as you are confident about the quality you are getting, you should buy ready-frozen instead. To maintain top quality, the freezing process must happen very quckly. However, your home freezer will take ten or twenty times as long to freeze fish as a commercial freezing plant.

We might add that buying fresh fish is absolutely no guarantee of quality, anyway. As you know, fresh fish deteriorates very quickly. By the time it has made its way from the quayside to your fridge, it is often inferior to fish which was selected for quality immediately after being landed, and frozen straightaway.

But does it taste as good?
We believe that, as long as it was of high quality in the first place, frozen fish is indistinguishable from fresh, once it is on the plate. And you will too, once you try our fish.

How long does it take from ordering to delivery?
We deliver on Wednesdays and Fridays. Order by Monday 9am for Wednesday delivery or by Wednesday 9am for Friday delivery.

How is your fish delivered?
We use overnight couriers and special packaging including "dry ice" to ensure your parcel remains frozen en-route.

Do I have to wait in all day for my parcel to arrive?
No. Our delivery company will leave your parcel in a safe place, such as outside your back door or in your garage. If you might not be in on the delivery day, just tell us where you would like it left.

It doesn't have to come to your home address. Many members have theirs delivered to their place of work, where it is signed for by the receptionist. The parcel is clean, dry and easy to handle. It can be kept in reception, post room, office, or car and taken home after work.

Alternatively, you could have it delivered to a neighbour and collect it from him or her when you get home.

Assuming the parcel is unopened, its contents will stay frozen until at least 9pm.

How far do you deliver?
To most parts of the UK, including offshore, but excluding some northerly and western parts of Scotland where there is no "guaranteed next day" delivery service.
How often do you change your prices?
If we change a price, we hope to stick to the new price for at least three months. However, we cannot guarantee availability of any item.

How much does delivery cost?
For orders under £65, the delivery charge is £10.
For orders between £65 and £100, the delivery charge is £5.
For orders over £100, delivery is free.
Offshore delivery is at cost and we will notify you.
Our comparatively high delivery charges reflect the fact that we must ensure the fish stays frozen between us and you. That means we use a faster but more expensive "within 24 hours" delivery service. We also use dry ice and special packaging
