Terms and Conditions

By placing an order on this site you are agreeing to these terms and conditions. Please read them carefully. Under English law, we may not enter into a contract with any person under 18 years of age. By placing an order you declare that you are at least 18 years old.

1. Your statutory rights. Nothing contained in these terms and conditions affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

2. The site. We reserve the right to change details and prices on any part of this site, including these terms and conditions, at any time and without notice. We will, however, honour any bona fide order made before such changes.

3. Delivery area. We despatch frozen fish covers to most parts of the UK, including offshore (supplementary charges apply), but excluding some northerly and western parts of Scotland where there is no "guaranteed next day" delivery service.

4. Prices. We try to ensure that the prices on our web site are correct. If any price is wrong we reserve the right to charge you the correct price. If this means you will have to pay more, we will contact you and will not proceed without your consent.

5. Payment. For web orders, we will debit your credit/charge card at the time of placing the order. If you wish to place your order in advance, and do not wish to have your card charged until the order is ready for despatch, please place your order by phone, AND TELL US THAT YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR CARD CHARGING STRAIGHT AWAY. Should your order include an item which is out of stock on the despatch date, we will offer you the choice of a refund or a credit note.

6. Delivery. Orders for frozen fish are normally delivered within 3 - 10 days, except in December when delivery details will be announced on the site. Deliveries which are not signed for are left "at your risk", if the driver can find a reasonably secure place to leave them. If we anticipate any difficulties concerning the delivery date, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible to arrange a mutually acceptable alternative.

7. Our guarantee. We aim to supply fish of the highest standard. If you are not happy with the quality of our fish, we will refund your money.

8. Return of non-perishable items. If you wish to return a non-perishable item for any reason other than it not being of merchantable quality (faulty etc), you may do so at your own expense. We will refund the cost of the item less a handling charge of 5 per cent, as long as the item is returned to us in the same condition as when we sent it to you.

9. Cancellation of orders. You may cancel your order at any time up to the closing time for acceptance of orders. We will refund any payment you have made, but reserve the right to make a charge of £4 to cover the costs incurred by us in handling your payment/credit.

10. Personal details. We will not pass on any details about you to any person not directly employed by us, unless required to do so by law.

10. Customer support. You may call our customer helpline on 0800 279 3474 at any time of the day or night. If the line is not attended, please leave a message. We aim to respond to all calls within 24 hours except at weekends / public holidays. Calls to this number are free from within the UK. Alternatively, or if contacting us from outside the UK, you may email us at support@thefishsociety.co.uk.
