Pasteurised in-the-shell mussels... make moules mariniere on a whim. We have always used European mussels, but have recently (Feb 2010) found a supplier in Chile whose mussels are larger (not too much larger) and meatier than European and taste at least as good. But availability is patchy, so if you'd like to try them, please order now. Update August 2010 - the earthquake in Chile has disrupted supplies. Keep your fingers X'd. In the meantime we have the not quite so good but still pretty OK European mussels.
