Product Information
  • This is one whole fillet, so you'll need to remove the pinbones
  • You could try making your own miso marinade
  • One 400g fillet would serve two people

When removing the pin bones, it's best to use a sharp knife and remove then via a V-cut. Boning pliers yield only misery. Black cod has a high oil content which makes it uniquely buttery when cooked. It is often served in a miso marinade but there are many different ways to serve this fish. You could pan fry it and serve with a lemon pepper aioli, bake it with some olive oil, salt, pepper and saffron for a beautifully simple eating experience, or even grill it. No matter how you cook it, it's going to be a cut above any cod you've tried before. If a whole fillet seems rather intimidating, then take a look at our fillet steaksloin steaks or fillet portions

Sustainability - our rating 8/10

Our Black Cod is line caught in Canada. This is a good choice for several reasons; the stock is healthy, overfishing is a low concern and the impacts to the sea floor as a result of fishing is minimal. There are further policies in development to protect the ecosystem.
