Mackerel with Lime and Chilli
Serves 4 

The rich flavour of the mackerel is well suited to a little chilli...


  • 4 mackerel
  • 1 lemon, zest and juice
  • ½ tbsp chilli sauce
  • 1 tsp soft brown sugar
  • Salt and pepper
  • ½ tbsp parsley, chopped


  1. Make three deep slashes in both sides of each mackerel. Put in a shallow dish.
  2. Combine lime, chilli sauce, sugar and seasoning. Pour over the fish, rubbing into the slashes. Leave for 30 minutes
  3. Preheat grill to medium high. Transfer mackerel to grillpan. Grill for 10 minutes, brushing frequently with the marinade and turning the fish over after five minutes. Garnish with parsley.
