- Super lean cod from Norway
- Detailed sustainability regime
- Skin-on, boneless
From Norway’s finest : large fish line-caught on day boats. But the special feature of Skrei is that the cod is caught in the spring on its long food-free journey to its spawning grounds, so it’s very lean and super-fit and you can see this in its bright white flesh. Norwegians are very proud of Skrei, which is subject to a highly detailed sustainability regime. Read about skrei cod here.
Featured customer reviews
- "I read about Skrei cod and was keen to try it. The fact that it was left with its skin on was also a major advantage as fish always cooks better with its skin on. It was delicious and formed part of an Italian themed dinner. Everyone enjoyed this course."
- "First Class, best cod I have had in year!!!"
- "2 meaty steaks that lived up to its reputation "
Sustainability - our rating 9/10
Skrei cod are line caught off the coast of Norway. Line caught cod caught in Norwegian waters are described as ‘best choice’ by the Good Fish Guide. The cod that are marketed as skrei are large mature fish. Due to the ‘brand’ of ‘skrei’ and the price premium, there is extra industry incentive to continue closely managing this cod stock.
