Goodbye Lockdown!

The Fish Society | 04.08.2021

Dear Fish Lovers,

As the UK has now removed all lockdown restrictions and it has been over a year since our first national lockdown, we thought it would be a good time to reflect on the past 16 months at The Fish Society.

For over a year now we have been working together in our long battle against Covid and all of us still have a responsibility to reduce the spread of the virus. However, with cases falling and the fantastic NHS vaccination programme - we remain hopeful that eventually, this pandemic will come to an end.

Like so many online food businesses, we've faced many challenges throughout this period - supply channels closed, delivery systems faltered, staff bubble systems, the list goes on. However, we have overcome these as a team, coming out on the other side stronger and more equipped than ever before. Our number one priority here at The Fish Society has always been the safety of our customers and staff. We are exceedingly grateful that we have been able to operate during this difficult time.

We are also extremely thankful to YOU! We’d like to take this opportunity to thank our marvellous customers, whether you’re a loyal long-standing member or you’re one of our many new members. YOU are the reason we are here and helping us continue on our journey in becoming the UK’s leading online fishmonger. A special thanks also goes to our fabulous team who have been resilient and grasped the challenge with both hands, we couldn’t have done it without them.

However, it’s not all been doom and gloom. Being an e-commerce business during the pandemic has meant we have been fortunate to experience growth. When the UK was ordered to ‘stay at home’, more and more people wanted high quality fish delivered to their door and we are very appreciative that we are able to provide that service.

Since our growth in 2020 we have moved to a larger location and expanded our small Fish Society team - working together to give you the best range and quality of seafood and an impeccable service.

We're well aware of the fortunate position we found ourselves in over the past 18 months. We felt we should share some of our good fortune by supporting those working on the front line during the pandemic with meals and donating to worthy charities such as The Captain Tom Foundation and The Care Worker's Charity.

We’ve launched a number of exciting projects this year, including our very own Fish Society ‘Made By Us’ range created by our very talented Executive Chef Tim Bridle - trust us when we say it all tastes utterly delicious. Our brand new recipes page is now live, with over 60 delicious recipes to choose from, for all tastes and occasions, why not give one a go today! One of our key priorities this year has been our sustainability journey, which is well underway, you can read more about what we’ve been doing recently in our blog post update here. We’re also quite excited to announce that our studio kitchen is under construction and due to be finished later this year, we’re looking forward to hosting and meeting you lovely lot here in future.
