The Fish Society | 24.08.2021

We're excited to announce that we have launched over 70 Fish Society recipes, packed with our delicious range of seafood, how to's and inspiration for the budding home chef. We’re all about nourishing the soul with great seafood resulting in pure happiness! There’s nothing quite like a plate of gorgeous seafood - and our collection of beautiful recipes certainly brings out the mmmmms! You’ll find authentic and impressive ideas for fish curries, luxury fish cakes, noodle parcels, bakes, sushi rolls, risottos, miso cod, poke bowls, paella...all with an extra dimension!

We've been planning our Fish Society recipe page for over a year now...why a year? Our mission was to create the most diverse and accessible seafood recipe page available online, with step-by-step instructions and seafood recommendations for each.

And the truth is, after much research, custom development, the media and research studies, we found that for many of us, time is short and that we need something now, we’re all guilty of reaching into our cupboards to find the fastest and easiest food to prepare a meal, so we wanted to create a recipe page where you'll be cooking delicious meals in no time.

Poaching, grilling, pan-frying, currying, baking - you name it, we have it! For many people, cooking seafood at home seems like an intimidating task. But it truly doesn't have to be. In fact, fish and shellfish are some of the simplest foods to prepare. We hear a lot of people saying they are either nervous about the tiny bones in fish, or find it too fiddly to remove them, or how to achieve the perfect crispy skin without overcooking. Well, we’re here to tell you that it’s actually easy and totally fuss-free!

It's overcooked again! Follow your own judgment and not always the instructions.

When it comes to baking fish, you will know it is done as soon as the flesh is opaque, and with fish such as salmon, you’ll see white protein bubbles forming on the top. If you’re grilling fish, as soon as the skin starts to peel away, such as mackerel fillets and sardines, it’s done. And remember, once you take the fish off the heat, it will continue to cook through for a couple of minutes. TIP: Resist the urge to overcook fish as doing so will create dry results. Trust your instincts, if it flakes away easily and is no longer translucent, the fish is cooked through.

Cooking from frozen you ask? We would always recommend defrosting your fish before you cook it. We think that it’s much easier to cook consistently. That’s true for all fish, prawns, lobster etc but on some of our ‘prepared’ lines we suggest cooking from frozen.

We had many of these questions in mind, starting with the most popular seafood you love to eat, to ensure you have all the confidence and everything you needed to get stuck in, and before you decide which recipe you will be making for the week, do an inventory of what you already have in your cupboards.

In today’s world, cooking, cookbooks, and food blogging can mean big business. And you don’t necessarily need an expensive culinary degree to do it! All we knew is that the best place to start was by learning how to create a recipe that’s uniquely our own. Our recipes were carefully curated, tried and tested by our executive chef Tim Bridle, with the help of our passionate food stylists Harrie & Claire from Cook & Capture, and trust us when we say - they're absolutely delicious! We are keeping up the pace by releasing new recipes every month, so please feel free to message and let us know if there is something you would like to see.

We will be showcasing these stunning recipes in our brand new studio kitchen (which is currently taking shape) via our social media channels and hosting customer days. So you can imagine we're dying to get in! We researched the very best, most helpful cooking channels on YouTube that are guaranteed to make people cook better…however, showcasing unique recipes and methods cooking seafood was underloved and much needed, that’s where we come in! Our video content may vary based on the types of dishes we prepare, skill level, but everyone will find something they will love and want to experience at home.

We want people to stop in their tracks when they walk through the door, chefs to say " how can I get in there? I'd like to be seen working in this kitchen" and most of all, a space in which increible product photography, videography and content can be created.

Have you got a recipe you'd like to share? We'd love to hear from you, submit your recipe and see it featured on our recipe page, with you named as the creator.

Try one of our many new recipes today, we look forward to hearing what you think.
