Silver Pomfret

There's no mistaking the silver pomfret - it looks like a discus with fins. This fish has tiny scales - so small they don't really count. And a lovely buttery taste (it's sometimes known as the butterfish). Silver pomfret stands in high esteem in Asia, as you can tell from the price. Ours come from India and Sri Lanka and they're three or four times the size you'll find elsewhere.
