Spiced calamari in ragout sauce: squid stewed with onion, tomato and a little rice, and spiced with pepper, cloves and bay. José Gourmet pack it in Portugal, and it is closer to a small stew than a tin of fish, which is why it works so well warmed through and spooned over rice.
We'll be straight with you: this isn't one of the olive oil tins. The squid is caught off South America and the sauce is made with sunflower and soya oil. What it does have is 63% squid and 24.9g of protein per tin, the most of any tin in this range. (Cloves and squid: we were sceptical too.)
