Foodie Gifts For Him And For Her

The Fish Society | 26.10.2021

Now, I know what you’re thinking… Christmas is still a long way away, but we’re already counting down the days here at The Fish Society. You might be starting to think about Christmas gifts and what tasty food you will be eating during the festive season. We’ve done the research for you and have put together the best Christmas food gifts for all sorts of palates. From stocking fillers to hamper ideas, there’s something that everyone will enjoy!

As Christmas last year was dampened by COVID lockdown rules, we know that this year is going to be a showstopper! Whether you’re hosting or visiting family and friends, delicious food always makes for a memorable occasion.

Many of us have gained lockdown cooking skills over the last year and a half, so make sure that you treat the foodies, chefs and budding home cooks in your life to the gift of great seafood.

Below are some of our top selling Christmas seafood gifts, hopefully you’ll find some inspiration!

Smoked Salmon

When we think of Christmas, we think of smoked salmon. Every year it’s one of our top selling lines, taking centre stage throughout the festive period. Smoked salmon makes an inspired gift for any seafood lover, it transforms any dish into a luxurious eating experience.

Likewise, if you’ve been invited to a Christmas shindig and don’t want to turn up empty handed, smoked salmon is a great choice as it can be easily incorporated into a variety of starters, snacks or canapes. We would recommend smoked salmon and cream cheese blinis as they can be rustled up quickly and are a Christmas classic.

We have a gifting program where you can send a pack of smoked salmon to your friends and family, all we need is their address and we will do the rest! If you like the sound of this, get in touch with our lovely customer service team at customerteam@thefishsociety.co.uk

Salmon

Although smoked salmon is typically the star of the show, salmon is also an extremely popular choice at Christmas. A whole organic salmon fillet is always a winner at big gatherings, not only is it packed full of flavour, it looks fantastic when served. Many choose to bake salmon or make their own salmon en croute, a flavoursome alternative to a traditional Christmas turkey!

If any of your friends or family are lovers of salmon gravadlax, why not give them salmon to make their own gravadlax at home? It’s a lot easier than you might think and has a sensational festive flavour!

Caviar

As far as food gifting goes, it doesn’t get much more luxurious than a tin of caviar. A touch of salt, the delicate flavour of fresh fish, hints of sweetness and nutty notes in every spoonful.

If you’re willing to splash the cash, caviar is the perfect way to spoil that special someone (or treat yourself, we won’t tell!). Sophisticated and elegant, it would make a delightful addition to any Christmas gift hamper.

Keta, bright orange salmon roe, is also a popular choice at Christmas time and is often referred to as salmon caviar. Again, this would make a splendid gift to bring to any festive occasion as it can be used to garnish many dishes.

 Tins, Jars & Pate’s

You might think that tinned seafood is an odd present to give, it might be if you bought the ten-a-penny supermarket tins. However, we don’t sell those… our tinned items are a cut above the rest, for instance the finest cuts of tuna and superbly prepared selected sardines. Any of our tins would make a fine gift or stocking filler, we’ve even been asked if they would fit into a Christmas cracker!

 Fish Boxes & Gift Vouchers

If you’re still not sure what to give your loved ones, a gift voucher is a wonderful way to treat them. They can choose exactly what seafood they want, when they want it. Whether they enjoy prawns, lobster, sashimi or ovenable seafood - it’s completely up to them!

Alternatively, you may like to send a pre-made fish box, they’re a great way to impress for any festive occasion as well as making a lovely gift hamper.

Whatever you decide to give your loved ones this Christmas, we’re here to help if you choose to give the gift of seafood. Have a very Merry Christmas, Fishlovers!
