Mixed Misshapes Freezer Filler – 5 Fish, 10 Packs (2.1kg)
- Ten packs, five fish: 3 × 200g cod, 2 × 250g Grimsby smoked haddock, 2 × 200g Atlantic salmon, 2 × 200g wild sockeye and 1 × 200g pole-and-line yellowfin tuna (2.1kg in all)
- Boneless, skinless offcuts from cutting our fillet steaks and sashimi
- Each pack gives one or two portions, depending on what else is in the pot – roughly 15 across the box
- Packed separately, so you only defrost the fish you need
Mixed fish misshapes are what's left on the board when we cut our fillet steaks and sashimi: the same cod, smoked haddock, salmon and tuna, just in shapes that wouldn't survive a dinner-party plating. (The fish doesn't mind.) That's the whole reason they cost less than the steaks they came from.
We put this box together because plenty of you were already buying three or four kinds of misshapes in the same order. So here are all five, at about 10% less than buying the packs one by one. The cod and smoked haddock go into the fish pie; the salmon and sockeye into a curry or a tray bake; the tuna into a poke bowl. Poke is Hawaiian for, roughly, “cut into pieces”, so somebody has already done that bit for you.
Defrosted properly, we'd defy you to tell any of it from fresh – and if you can, we'll give you your money back.
If ten packs is more freezer than you have, the Mixed Misshapes Taster has one pack of each.
Also known as mixed fish offcuts or fish trimmings.
