The Fish Society's Date Night for Two
Date Night for Two, this bundle basically writes its own opening line — it's an entire tasting menu of things that don't come cheap.
Contains: 2 dressed British lobster halves, 6 Coquille Saint Jacques, 6 English oysters, and a tin of Oscietre sturgeon caviar.
Oysters and lobster want nothing done to them beyond a squeeze of lemon; the scallops take 90 seconds a side in a hot pan with butter
Serves two, generously — this isn't a starter-and-main affair, it's the whole evening
Date Night for Two is what happens when you stop trying to cook something impressive and just buy the impressive thing instead. Dressed lobster, wild Scottish king scallops, native English oysters and a tin of proper Oscietre caviar — four ingredients, no technique required, 11 years of us thinking this is the best possible way to spend a Friday.
None of it's cheap, because none of it should be — an oyster can't be farmed faster and a lobster can't be persuaded to grow quicker, so you're paying for patience rather than packaging. The scallops are the only thing that touches a pan; give them 90 seconds a side in butter, no more, or ask for Coquille Saint Jacques and we'll have done it for you. The caviar wants a small spoon and someone who isn't in a hurry (mother-of-pearl if you have it — metal spoons apparently sulk about the flavour, though we've never had the patience to test it ourselves).
If you'd rather not do the pairing yourself, we also sell each of these on its own — useful if one of you turns out to prefer their lobster without an audience.
